My Story…

how it started…

Connecting with others energises me. I’ve known this from a young age. Being one of four siblings, I always had company and even though I found myself as the new kid at school on several occasions, I never found it hard to create bonds and build friendships.

My parents worked in mental health and education and were advocates of self-belief and self-improvement. It comes as no surprise that the potential of the human mind and mindset has always intrigued me. Alongside this I wondered why some people retreated when hardship came whilst others overcame it. My parents were the latter.

They taught me that education is a privilege and the chance to learn something new an opportunity. We had humble beginnings and through my father’s expertise in medicine we, as a family, went from surviving on very little to thriving on a lot. He set the example that the sky is the limit and to never stop developing myself.

Now I help those who feel they have gone as far as they can on their own but have a thirst for doing more and doing better.

how I got here…

I spent many years as a leader myself prior to becoming a coach and I know, only too well, the many challenges facing leaders and those we lead. I have seen the move away from a leader’s overreliance on a dominant and directive leadership style towards a more relational and human approach.

I have coached and led leaders, teams and myself in a wealth of industries including engineering, elite-sports, design and health and social care. I am a Level 7 qualified Executive Coach accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management and I also hold an MSc in Coaching and Mentoring. I am also an accredited Agile Coach. I maintain best practice by following the Global Code of Ethics (https://www.emccglobal.org/quality/ethics/) and strive to continually develop myself professionally.

I am a strong advocate for raising the standard for professional coaching and I coordinate the coaching of peers through the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) to provide support, practice and peer-supervision for fellow professional coaches. I regularly receive coaching and supervision to rigorously monitor my aptitude and excellence.
